It is a native Australian timber and can have Grey or Red tonings. Ironbark is very hard and heavy, with long durability.
Ironbark has a natural resistance to lyctid borers and termites making it suited to a wide range of applications without requiring treatment. It is the preferred choice when strength and outdoor longevity are required such as in wharf and bridge construction.
